The blockage is usually a build-up of fat, cholesterol, and other substances that form plaque in the arteries that supply the heart (coronary arteries). it can burst and form a clot that blocks blood flow. Interrupted blood flow can harm or destroy part of the core muscle. A heart attack, also called myocardial infarction, can be fatal, but treatment has improved dramatically over the years. Symptoms of Heart Attack

The risk factors for heart attack
Different health conditions, your lifestyle, and your age and family history can all increase your risk of heart disease and heart attacks. These are known as risk factors. About half of all Americans have as a minimum one of three main risk parts for heart disease: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and smoking. Some chances factors cannot be controlled, including your age or family history, but you can take steps to decrease your chances by changing the factors that you can control.
